Chidori has a younger brother by the name of Shouta. They both lost their parents a few years back due to a bus accident. Their parents sacrificed their lives to save Chidori and Shouta by shielding them at the time of the accident. In the end, they escaped death, but obtained some injuries.
Shouta's dream was always to become a pilot so he could fly and take the family on trips. He gave up on his dream, however, after the accident. He had lost the ability to use his legs in the accident. He has been in the hospital ever since. Chidori on the other hand, walked away with just a scar on her right shoulder.
Chidori and Shouta blamed themselves for the death of their parents, but Chidori said it was her fault that they even got into the accident. She was the one who suggested that they go to the movies even though it was pouring hard with rain.
